Our team at All County Home Care & Hospice includes occupational therapists and occupational therapy assistants. They are qualified professionals who promote and encourage independence and safety for patients in their homes.
The situation(s) of each patient will be assessed thoroughly, identifying the safety risks that may be present in the home environment. Afterwards, a customized therapy plan will be drafted to minimize and/or eliminate such risks. Our occupational therapists and assistants will educate and train our clients with the use of home equipment that can assist them with their daily activities at home. Additionally, they will also provide suggestions and techniques on how our patients can adapt well to their current situations. The family members of our patients will also be educated as to how they can help make the home convenient and safe for their loved ones.
Through occupational therapy, we can assist our clients with improving functions in the home such as:
- fall prevention
- motor skills improvement
- safety in the home
- proper and safe use of orthotic equipment and prosthetic services, among others
Most of our older patients have fears of falling due to a traumatic fall in the past or other reasons. Our therapists will help them overcome their fears, so they will be encouraged to stay active most of the time.
